Validation of T,S profils with CORA database

CORA database is an aggregation of temperature and salinity vertical profiles from different sources of data (CTD, XBT, moorings)

It’s been developped in the framework of Coriolis for the CMEMS project (COPERNICUS Marine and Environment Monitoring)

https://www.coriolis.eu.org/Data-Products/Products/CORA

The aim is to gather the profiles available in mediterranea on the same period as the model (2012-2013) and to compare the profiles.

The work is based on the ADETOC project and the scripts develooped by M. Ali.Ghannami (ENSTA BRETAGNE) for his internship.

  1. Prerequisities

We need the outputs of the model and the Cora database

  2. Description of the program

The scripts must be executed in this order :

    • extract_pr.py extract CORA and CROCO profiles on the same dates and location

    • process_cora.py check and eliminate bad profiles from data

    • analyse_cora_pandas.py do the plots with the Seaborn library.

    • A figure of the comparison of T,S profiles is done for each basin.
